Mercedes-Benz has ended production of the first-generation CLS-Class - after several successful years and the hopes that a next-gen version of the vehicle will introduce it to even more customers.

Originally launched in 2004, the CLS started a styling revolution which made "four-door coupe" a household term, almost. Immediately successful, the model would go on to sell more than 170,000 units.

The last car was a CLS550 built for an American customer who specified the AMG styling package, premium leather upholstery, bi-xenon headlights, and other goodies.

Mercedes-Benz has worked on a few Cabrio or Convertible models over the years, but there hasn't been one from the all new E-Class Coupe.

German tuners at Carlsson, the vehicle enhancement company, has taken it upon themselves to convert an all new Mercedes-Benz E-Class two door into a drop top.

Not only does it look stunning, the Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI Cabriolet kit from Carlsson includes enhancements both outside and internally.

Mercedes-Benz is looking to expand on their already strong line up of luxury sedans and coupes within the next couple of years. The German auto maker will, according to sources, launch Mercedes-Benz GLC sometime in 2014.

For now it is being called the GLC, which stands for "Geländecoupe" - the crossover will feature sporty styling and a coupe-like roofline.
